Fareham is dominated by post-war and 1970s housing, and the pipework installed in it is behind a large share of the heating complaints we are called out to.
A great many homes across the Fareham estates still run their original microbore pipework. Microbore is not inherently bad, but the small bore silts up with sludge far more readily than larger pipe and restricts flow once it does. The symptoms are consistent: radiators at the end of the run that never get properly hot, and a boiler that short cycles because it cannot shift the heat it is making.
Often a powerflush and a decent magnetic filter resolve it. Sometimes the honest answer is a partial re-pipe, and we would rather tell you that than take money for a flush that will not hold. Either way we would want to see the system before quoting.
The older cores at Titchfield and Portchester are a different proposition again, with period property and conservation constraints, while the waterside housing around Fareham Creek and the harbour brings its own issue: salt-laden coastal air is harder on external plant than inland sites. Where we are siting a heat pump or external condensate run near the water, equipment choice and a sheltered position both matter.
