Eastleigh grew up around the railway works, and the housing that was built for it still sets the pattern for most of the heating work we do here.
The terraces around the town centre and Bishopstoke Road date largely from the 1890s through to the 1920s, built for railway families. Solid walls, chimney breasts, compact kitchens. A great many were fitted with a back boiler behind the living room fire at some point, and removing one properly is one of the most common jobs we get called to in Eastleigh. It means capping the old gas run, dealing with the builder's opening and the flue, and finding a sensible new home for the boiler.
Small kitchens are the other recurring constraint. Where there is genuinely no room, an airing cupboard, utility, garage or loft can all work provided there is a safe flue route and somewhere for the condensate to go. We look at the options on site rather than assuming the kitchen is the answer.
The post-war and modern side of Eastleigh is a different job entirely. Boyatt Wood, Fair Oak, Horton Heath and the newer development north of the town are better insulated and mostly on mains gas, and the newest of them hold heat well enough to make a heat pump worth costing properly rather than dismissing.

Yes, and it is one of the jobs we do most often in Eastleigh's older terraces. The work involves capping off the old gas supply, making good the builder's opening and chimney, and relocating the boiler to a practical position. Allow two days for most of them rather than one.
An airing cupboard, utility room, garage or loft can all work, provided there is a safe flue route, frost protection where needed and a proper condensate run. We would rather look at the house and give you real options than force a boiler into a kitchen that cannot take it.
